Day 1 (13 Mar 2009, Friday)
At 7pm, the 3 of us (Mu Cheng, Kor Hong and I) from Singapore departed on time, from Golden Mile Complex, taking the Konsortium bus. We were so excited to see the gang in KL. I text the girls that we have started our journey, and see them soon! We were all so knocked out from work that Mu Cheng snoozes the moment the bus left Golden Mile Complex! Kor Hong and I persevered and we zonked out after clearing the Malaysia customs at 2nd Link. It’s sleeping time… it was 8pm.
The other side in KL; Wee Wee, Cheng Lian and Gicee, they were so excited that they all gathered early at Sungai Besi McDonald’s at Petronas petrol kiosk by 12.15am. They can’t wait to see us! Due to a slight traffic jam along the North-South highway, we arrived at Sungai Besi Toll at 12.30am.
Meanwhile, the 3 of us in the bus slept all the way to KL. Literally… rather, Mu Cheng and me to be exact, coz both of us were sleeping, and suddenly I heard Kor Hong mentioned “Oh, I think we have arrived at Sungai Besi” I literally jumped up and said, yes, that’s where need to stop! Haha…. Thank god we alight, if we would miss the stop and head all the way to Pudu.
Anyway, we were so happy to see each other at our gathering point, Sungai Besi McDonald’s at Petronas petrol kiosk... J
We went off in 2 cars; Ah Lian’s and Gicee’s. The beginning of our fun time! At 12.40am, Ah Wee brought all of us to have chicken rice by Fei-po. Haha, funny name! So, we have our chicken rice and also porridge and rice at 1.05am. We also rang Sheila to disturb her during the supper. We decided to go karaoke after supper, but alas, it closed already when we went around 2.30am. Hence, we head straight to Ah Wee’s house for our shower.
All of us lazed around at Ah Wee’s living hall, we chatted till 5am, finally we slept or rather, took a quick nap, before waking up at 6.30am to freshen ourselves for our meeting at 9am at Seremban toll.
Day 2 (14 Mar 2009, Saturday)
Ah Boon arrived at Ah Wee’s house by 7.30am. Our next destination is to meet up with the Muar troopers at 9.15am at Seremban toll. As we were early, we decided to go for a quick breakfast nearby Ah Wee’s house, which she said that they serve good wanton noodles. We left in 2 cars (Ah Lian’s and Gicee’s) to the breakfast place. Time was 7.45am. A breakfast that was supposed to be just wanton noodles led to wanton noodles and dumpling soup as well! We have the “teh tarik special” and it really tastes great! The gula melaka smells yummy! Thanks for recommending that to me, Ah Wee! J
We started our journey to meet our next group of troopers at 8.15am. At 8.53am, we reached the Seremban toll. Will the girls be late? That was the question all of us have on the Muar troopers. Well, we have our blur queens in the same car! Vivian,, Sheu Ying and Shiau Min… J
We were waiting for them; we took some silly photos along the road. We called the girls, and guess what; they are at the wrong place! Big BOO BOO! They have exited too early and are waiting at the wrong Seremban toll. Thankfully we called; hence, they made their way to meet us at the correct Seremban toll. Haha, the girls still thought that they were early, but SALAH exit lah!
At 9.06am, the girls arrived! Yippie, 3 cars now! We are off to our next destination. Jusco at Seremban, which is about 10 minutes away. We will meet Chin Wern there for breakfast again (for those who have not eaten), and for karaoke at 10am. We met Chin Wern punctually at 9.15am at Jusco carpark, and the whole carpark only has 3 cars; our cars! Haha, early bird catches the worm! It was fun to walk at the carpark that has no car, and we took photos again! We look like schoolgirls, coz we look as if we have not changed since we left school.
We accompanied that Muar troopers and Chin Wern to have morning breakfast at a Malay shop. Right after that, we made our way back to Jusco to wait for the door to open at 10am. The Jusco door opened at 10am sharp. We “cheong” in the building to go to Greenbox for karaoke. This is the 1st time all of us are having karaoke together. We sang and laughed so much! The hokkien song “A shi wa wu zhi ba ban” (If I have a million dollars) was the funniest song! We have so much fun, and the karaoke costs us only RM11 per pax!
We sang to our hearts content till 1pm. Then, we went for our tidbits shopping to stock up food for our Port Dickson stay later on. We bought some snacks, mineral water, Chin Wern and Vivian bought donuts, Ah Lian and Ah Wee bought Kenny Rogers chicken. We also bought a cake for Sheila from Secret Recipe to throw her a surprise birthday celebration from all of us. As some of us became hungry, we have a quick bite at KFC for the saver meal. It’s really cheap! Man, we are like constantly hungry!
Then, we tried to buy T-shirts for all of us to commemorate our gathering. Ah Wee negotiated with the stall owner, obviously our negotiation failed, coz after we walked away and wanted to get the T-shirts later on, the owner obviously wasn’t interested. Haha… see lah, we are just troublemakers… J
At around 2pm, we left Jusco to meet another car from Muar, Fang-jie and Yu Shien. After meeting up, we all drove to Port Dickson together. 4 cars now trooping to PD! It was a zoom zoom and vroom vroom time! Our entourage travelled together on the highway, with some hiccups when we suddenly turned not following the GPS that Ah Wee has. That was classic case, coz the “blur queen” car didn’t manage to turn on time, and they were stuck right in the middle of the road at the T-junction traffic light! Thank god it’s Volvo! Haha… anyway, we managed to regroup later on and took the correct turning. Phew… By then, Sheila and Chin Yin have already reached PD World Marina in another car. We agreed to meet at the reception counter at the resort.
We met up, all checked in, and settle down in the apartment. Even finding the apartment we were making so much noise… we are just crazy people! We decided to head down to the beach, hence we drove out, still trying our luck to find some shirts for commemoration, gave up after that, we headed to the beach to fly kite. Ah Wee tried, but of course, the kite didn’t really fly much. Well, Mu Cheng did a pretty good job flying the kite and flew the kite into the “children” zone… haha!
Vivian then taught us the “chicken dance”, which actually was the same dance that Mu Cheng and I did groom’s brothers to perform and follow us when they were working on the gate crashing of our “gate”. So, the 3 of us took the honour and led the group in dancing, but nobody wanted to, and we ended up performing for them! Well, for the fun of it!
Next, we just started to eat our muffins from Kenny Rogers and the chicken… eating again! Aiyoyo…
After that, we started taking photos… group photos… silly photos… so many! From taking the foot, to nice posing group photos, to the jumping photos! We jumped at least 6 times! As we use the self-timer to take for all of us, eventually we got it right, after I did the count 1-2-3 for everybody… hehe, that shows I have always used that… haha! J
After much fooling around on the beach, we all headed back to the apartment to shower. It’s dinnertime. What should we eat? I was showering, and the next thing that I found out when I came out of the shower was we were heading to Malacca to eat “satay celup”. Wow, call us the crazy girls, it’s really true.
So, vroom vroom, we headed out in 3 cars (Yu Shien’s, Gicee’s and Sheila’s) and drove to Malacca. What turn out to be just 45 minutes ended up to be more than 1 hour drive! It was also pouring… aiyoyo… we were all hungry and famished! We hang on, braved through the rain and finally, we reached Malacca at the famous Jalan Ong Kim Wee for “satay celup”. We hardly spoke, all just dived into getting the food ready, and let’s “celup” ah!
This is another record that we break. We ate 210 sticks of “satay celup”! Ah Wee at her best skills of negotiation, negotiated with the lady boss for discounts too! Well, she’s a frequent visitor apparently… the lady boss said we are really “superb”, she said this is a record, and her employee also endorsed it. How? We asked her, “Have you seen customers ate so many sticks of “satay celup” before?” Her reply was “Yes”. So, we asked her “Oh, when?” She said, “Now lor!” Haha! We are just a group of jokers!
After filling up our stomach, we all wanted to eat at the back lane near Madam King’s. Apparently, it’s a popular place to visit in Malacca. I have not been there, so it would be interesting for me. Unfortunately, they closed by the time we went there, and it was only 11pm. So, we all agreed to drive back to PD. I took over the car from Mu Cheng as she was tired. Now, 3 cars zoom back to PD. We drove and reached PD in about 1 hour. Phew… home sweet home!
It’s past midnite, almost 1am, but we were not sleeping yet. We presented the Secret Recipe classic cheesecake to Sheila, sang a happy birthday song for her! It has been a long time since we all celebrated someone’s birthday together in such a big group. At that time, we still eat the cheesecake… OMG! Haha but it’s yummy! We have our alcohol fix too! We drank, laughed, and Vivian was crying! Haha… she said she was too happy that she cried, and actually the real reason was were all sleepy… so, teary eyes… J
It’s true we were all quite zonked out. Hence, we all decided to call it a night by 2am. Before that, we were negotiating on what time to wake up the next day. It was a final call and as per Ah Wee’s decision, it’s 7.30am departing from the apartment to the beach again. This time round to a more secluded area. So, off to sleep we go and hoping we can wake up in a couple of hours. :p Our personal butler, Shiau Min, was bullied… haha! She will be preparing instant noodles for us in the morning… woo hoo… and give us morning call too! Wow, isn’t this a 5-star service right???
Day 3 (15 Mar 2009, Sunday)
At 6.30am, we were all waken up by Shiau Min, who diligently got all of us out of the bed to have our breakfast, the Maggi mee instant cup noodles. Thanks Shiau Min! We were all like walking zombies… tired, sleepy, some of us were contemplating to give the beach a miss… :p
By 7.30am, we all headed out in 3 cars (Ah Lian’s, Yu Shien’s and Sheila’s) to the beach. We bought newspapers first, and wanted to try our luck to buy more kites so that we can fly them, but the shops weren’t open yet. Hence, we headed straight to the beach, with the guidance from Gicee, as she came to recce the place 2 weeks ago. I brought along my Twister game… hehe… time to get the folks tangled up and have some fun!
This beach is much quieter and nicer. It’s as if we have the whole beach to ourselves. As it was still early, it wasn’t hot. Nice weather. I got everybody warmed up to start playing Twister. I gave them the briefing on how to play, and we split into 2 groups. Boy, we are a bunch of competitive girls! Ah Wee leading a team, Ah Lian leading a team. The rest seemed to be feeling blur blur, but they were already trying to figure out how to outwit the other team.
The game officially starts! It was really fun… I don’t know how to describe it, but look at those photos, we were just having lotsa fun! Funny poses, weird stretching exercises! Too many photos taken, and you take your time to enjoy them! We played 2 rounds of Twister. By the 2nd round, everyone got smarter… hence, we were playing better. Well done girls!
After that, we started taking photos with the Twister. We splitted up ourselves based on the color of our Sports House that we were in during Convent Secondary School – Delima (Red), Intan (Yellow), Mutiara (Blue) and Zamrud (Green). These are the colors on Twister mat too… so, we posed to take our best photos! Haha, laughters and madness again!
After much laughing and zonking out on the poses, Ah Wee asked me if I know how to play “Bi Ji”. I told her I know what’s “Galak / Galah”, that I can’t remember the name, but I played it during my Convent Primary School days. Then, we described to each other, we realised we were saying the same game. So, we thought it would be nice to have everyone playing it. It’s basically the game where you play on the court (similar to badminton court). You have 2 teams, the objective is to have your Team A to run across to the Team B’s final cross line, without being touched by the Team B who has their defence lines (total of 3 defence lines), and run back to the Team A’s starting point. Confusing? I don’t know how else to explain in writing. I was giving briefing verbally, on the beach, with the court drawn by Sheila and Ah Lian.
Everyone was quite enthusiastic and sporty enough. We splitted ourselves into 2 groups with 6 each. Shiau Min and Kor Hong didn’t want to play, so they took photos for everyone. I was the referee… J
We were playing like school children! Ah Wee’s team started off as Team A, and Ah Lian’s team play defense.
Aiyo, so funny! First classic case, it was Ah Boon and Sheila. Ah Boon actually ran and run down Sheila so that her team mate can run across! Haha! Next one, when Ah Wee reach the final line of Team B, it was Vivian that was blocking. Vivian was screaming and shrieking that Ah Wee was laughing non-stop and told her can you stop shrieking??? Haha… classic of Vivian!
Anyway, hard to describe, but all of us have good fun. I was busy laughing too! We even saw many onlookers and even a photographer came and took a photo of us playing… maybe you are going to see us on newspapers or magazines soon! Good job gals!
After that, we even end our beach outing with the chicken dance. Guess what, no longer performed just by me, Vivian and Mu Cheng, but everyone danced together. We made a big circle, and we danced together to the song. Fun, nice, enjoyable and that’s the spirit of Convent girls!
It’s time to check out. Hence, we went back to the apartment to wash up and pack. It was 11am. We checked out at 12pm, and we decided to go for a final karaoke together as Sheila and Chin Yin didn’t manage to join us the previous day.
5 cars, 15 troopers, all girls, we headed to Jusco to have lunch, and back to Green Box karaoke for our karaoke session at 2pm. We sang and we sang again the hokkien song “A shi wa wu zhi ba ban” (If I have a million dollars)! Many songs were sang, as time was precious! It was really an enjoyable time.
By 4pm, we paid the bill, and headed out of Green Box. Standing outside Green Box, we hugged each other and bid farewell as we were all heading to different places back to where we are all located (KL, Muar, Singapore). The Singapore troopers headed back to Muar first as we will head back to Singapore together from there. Mixed feelings, we felt happy, so much fun, but at the same time sad coz time just past by so fast.
All in all, it was time worth spent. No regrets at all. It was worth organising and co-ordinating the trip, and worth spending the money, because for this whole trip, all expenses included (from accommodation, all food, karaoke - twice, (yes, 2 times), transportation of our fuel and toll expenses to alcohol) we spent only RM150 per person!!! Power of girls!!!
See you girls soon!
